In this webinar, presented by Dr. Allison Slone, Curriculum Designer for IMSE and Ed.D., CCC-SLP, Reading Science, educators will examine how early language development supports literacy acquisition, review key milestones in language and literacy development, and consider when variation may indicate risk. This session emphasizes how intentional, responsive conversations within everyday classroom interactions accelerate language growth. Participants will gain practical strategies for creating language-rich environments that establish strong roots for lifelong literacy.
Part 3: Tell Me a Story: Leveraging Narrative Retell
Oral narrative skills play a critical role in comprehension and later literacy success. In this webinar, presented by Dr. Allison Slone, Curriculum Designer for IMSE and Ed.D., CCC-SLP, Reading Science, educators will explore how storytelling and narrative retelling support students’ ability to sequence events, use descriptive and academic language, and express ideas clearly. Educators will explore evidence-aligned strategies for using storytelling and retelling as tools to deepen their understanding, expand oral language, and strengthen students’ ability to communicate their learning.
