Mandate Fulfillment for Schools and Districts

IMSE News

IMSE has worked with teachers, schools, and districts in several states across the country affected by mandates that require teachers to be trained in specialized reading methodologies. The mandates are often targeted at general reading, special education and dyslexia focused initiatives.

Alabama

Approved Alabama Literacy Act Intervention Program: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider for Alabama's Literacy Act Intervention Program. More information on this act is available here.

Arkansas

Arkansas Reading Initiative for Student Excellence (R.I.S.E.): The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider for Arkansas's Reading Initiative for Student Excellence (R.I.S.E.) program for Pathway I. Here is a list of approved providers.

Colorado

IMSE's Orton-Gillingham has been approved for Colorado's Instructional Programming in both supplemental and intervention for grades K-3 in Phonological Awareness, Phonics and Word Study, Vocabulary and Text Reading Fluency.  Please find more information here.

Indiana

Indiana Approved Dyslexia Training: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider of dyslexia training in Indiana. You can find more information here.

Michigan

Michigan Approved Research-based Effective Literacy Program: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved professional learning provider for research-based effective literacy instruction in Michigan. Find Michigan's full list of approved providers here.

Ohio

Ohio's Third Grade Guarantee: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider for Ohio's Third Grade Guarantee. See IMSE on the Ohio Department of Education's official list of approved providers.

Oregon

Oregon Approved Dyslexia Training: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider of dyslexia-related training in the state of Oregon. Learn more, and to see IMSE on the list of approved providers.

Rhode Island

Rhode Island Educator Course Network: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is approved to be included in the here. You can find more information here.

Rhode Island Dyslexia/Literacy Endorsement: IMSE is also a RIDE approved provider for the Dyslexia/Literacy Endorsement pathway to proficiency requirement under the Right to Read Act.  Educators can use the following course combinations to meet the proficiency expectation:  

IMSE’s Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Course + IMSE’s Intermediate Orton-Gillingham Course + one of IMSE’s practicums (either Comprehensive or Intermediate).

South Carolina

IMSE's Orton-Gillingham courses and practicums have been approved by the South Carolina Departmentof Education to satisfy the Instructional Practices coursework requirement of the Read to Succeed legislation in the following capacities: 

  • Completion of both the Comprehensive and Intermediate Courses (60 hours of PD) 
  • Completion of the Comprehensive Course and practicum (80 hours of PD) 
  • Completion of the Intermediate Course and practicum (80 hours of PD) 

Qualifying participants should email credits@imse.com to request their SCDE Certificate of Completion. 

Utah

Utah Tier II and Tier III Reading Interventionist Certification: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education's Certification programs meet requirements for Utah's Tier II and Tier III Reading Interventionist certification. To learn more, please visit here.

 

Wyoming

IMSE is approved as an external provider for the Wyoming Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant.
