Path to Ohio CERI Structured Literacy/
Dyslexia Interventionist Certification

IMSE can support Ohio educators in meeting the Ohio requirements
for K-3 teachers and District/Site Intervention Specialists.

K-3 Teachers:
As an IDA accredited program, per the Dyslexia Committee Guidebook, Ohio K-3 educators can accomplish their required professional development training in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy by completing IMSE’s 30-hr Comprehensive or Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus trainings (Grades K-3).

District/Site Intervention Specialists:
One path to meeting the requirements for Ohio’s district/site intervention specialist role, per the Dyslexia Committee’s Guidebook, is obtaining the CERI’s (Center for Effective Reading Instruction) Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist Certification. IMSE’s practicum may be used to apply for CERI’s Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist certification.

Educators who complete one IMSE practicum may apply for the CERI Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist Certificate. Educators that complete both practicums may apply for the CERI Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist Certificate.
