IMSE has worked with teachers, schools, and districts in several states across the country affected by mandates that require teachers to be trained in specialized reading methodologies. The mandates are often targeted at general reading, special education and dyslexia focused initiatives. Districts should consider formulating an action plan for students that are recovering literacy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arizona
Arizona Dyslexia Training Designee: IMSE's training programs meet the criteria of Dyslexia Training Designee, as laid out by the Arizona Department of Education.
Arizona K-5 Literacy Endorsement Approved Provider: IMSE is an approved provider for Arizona's K-5 Literacy Endorsement. IMSE Comprehensive OG Plus Training (30 Hours) and IMSE Fidelity Course (15 Hours) are both required to fulfill Arizona's Literacy Endorsement. Maryland Leads Grant: The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is an approved provider for the Maryland Leads Grant in three areas: 1. Science of Reading Program Strategy - Assist LEA's with the development and implementation of strategic plans to provide rigorous professional development to K-3 teachers that is aligned to the science of reading and best literacy practices. 2. Science of Reading Program Strategy - Provides training to K-3 teachers and other relevant staff in the Science of Reading. 3. High Quality School Day Tutoring Program Strategy - provides effective tutoring practices specifically in the area of reading.

IMSE can support Ohio educators in meeting the Ohio requirements for K-3 teachers and District/Site Specialists.
K-3 Teachers:
As an IDA accredited program, per the Dyslexia Committee’s Guidebook, Ohio K-3 educators can accomplish their required professional development training in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy by completing either IMSE’s 30-hr Comprehensive (Grades K-2/3) OR 30 hr Intermediate training (Grades 3-5). If you have already completed one of those two IMSE courses, you have successfully met the requirement.
District/Site Intervention Specialists:
One path to meeting the requirement for Ohio’s district/site specialist, per the Dyslexia Committee’s Guidebook, is obtaining the CERI’s (Center for Effective Reading Instruction) Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist Certification. IMSE’s practicum may be used to apply for CERI’s Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist Certification.
Educators that complete one IMSE practicum may apply for the CERI Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist Certificate.

South Carolina
IMSE's Orton-Gillingham courses and practicums have been approved by the South Carolina Departmentof Education to satisfy the Instructional Practices coursework requirement of the Read to Succeed legislation in the following capacities:
- Completion of both the Comprehensive/Comprehensive OG+ and Morphology Plus Courses (60 hours of PD)
- Completion of both the Comprehensive/Comprehensive OG+ and Intermediate Courses (60 hours of PD)
- Completion of the Comprehensive Course and practicum (80 hours of PD)
- Completion of the Intermediate Course and practicum (80 hours of PD)
- Completion of the Morphology Plus Course and practicum (80 hours of PD); Must be certified in Comprehensive to be eligible for Morphology Plus practicum
