COURSE DESCRIPTION
For educational assistants who work with IMSE-trained teachers
The course is designed for educational assistants working with teachers who have completed IMSE’s Orton-Gillingham Plus (OG+) 30-hour training (released in June 2025). IMSE’s Educational Assistant Course is a hands-on, interactive class that provides an understanding of specific components within IMSE’s OG+ curriculum. This is an 18-hour course, offered both in person and live virtual.
IMSE’s Educational Assistant Course provides educators with the knowledge and resources to support beginning reading instruction (Concepts m–Ending Blends) in the following areas:
- Phonemic Awareness: Blending and Segmenting
- Cumulative Review: Three-Part Drill & Vowel Intensive Drill
- Letter Formation
- Decodable Readers
- Phonics: Spelling (Word and Sentence Dictation)
- Irregular Words: Red Words
- Syllable Division/Word Analysis
This Course is For
COURSE IS FOR:
This course is appropriate for instructional support personnel in K–2 general and special education as well as instructional support personnel in Grades 3 and beyond whose students require instruction in word recognition skills (e.g., phonology, decoding, spelling).
Please note: This course is only for instructional support personnel working with teachers who have completed Orton-Gillingham Plus 30-hour training.

- Access to IMSE’s Resource Portal, which will include a sounds video for m-ending blends and a video implementation library with modeled components of IMSE’s methodology
Schedule
This training will run every Tuesday once a week for 3 weeks, see dates below:
Nov. 3, 10 17, 2026 from 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM CT every day
Day 1 of your training- please login by 7:00 am to ensure that you do not have any tech problems. You will be placed in a waiting room until 8:00 am.
-Your instructor will discuss how breaks and lunch will fit into your days.
-Plan on 6 hours of instruction per day.
-Zoom link will be sent out prior to the training.
